This program allows senior graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and junior faculty to spend a summer as a member of the research community at a participating institution while engaged in a research project of their own choosing. Fellows are mentored by experienced economists both on scientific issues and career issues such as negotiating publications, the job market, and advancement strategies. AEA Summer Training Program – Application Portal is Open

The Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (CSMGEP) is pleased to announce that the application portal for the 2026 AEA Summer Training Program (AEASP), to be hosted by American University in Washington DC, is now open. AEASP is a prestigious program that uniquely enables students to prepare for the rigors of graduate studies—particularly at the PhD level—through two months of intensive training in microeconomics, math, econometrics, and research methods with leading faculty. More information can be found at https://www.aeaweb.org/about-aea/committees/aeasp.

AEA Mentoring Program

The AEA Mentoring Program was established in the mid-1990s by CSMGEP to address the under-representation of minorities among those entering and/or completing doctorate degrees in economics. The program matches underrepresented economics PhD students and new doctorates who are either US citizens or permanent residents with mentors in the field and facilitates networking between more senior economists and students at all stages of the educational and early-career pipeline. Applications for new mentors and mentees will open January 6, 2026, with a deadline to apply of February 5, 2026. For more information, visit https://www.aeaweb.org/about-aea/committees/csmgep/mentoring.

Check out EconTrack – The AEA Job Information Board

The AEA wants to help keep you informed! EconTrack is open with the goal of providing job candidates with reliable information about the status of open positions during the annual job market cycle. Several new features have been added this year. All registered users, including AEA members, are now welcome to participate in keeping hiring milestones up to date. Additionally, a milestone that was entered or verified by an institutional administrator includes a certification symbol. To ensure privacy, EconTrack does not include comments or any information about individual candidates under consideration. Entries are added to the EconTrack board by employers who opt in through the JOE Network or register the entry directly on EconTrack.
