The Graduate Student Intellectual Diversity Initiative (GSIDI) seeks an executive director to oversee operations of this innovative program that promotes intellectual pluralism in higher education. GSIDI is co-sponsored by Johns Hopkins University and the American Enterprise Institute. The aim of the initiative is to help broaden intellectual diversity on college and university campuses by addressing the pipelines that ultimately produce future university faculty. GSIDI seeks to advance this mission by identifying and assisting prospective graduate students who are dedicated to pluralistic inquiry, especially those interested in questions, hypotheses or approaches that may be labeled conservative, moderate or heterodox liberal.

Currently focused on political science and political theory, GSIDI plans to expand into other disciplines beginning Spring 2027. The executive director will hold a joint affiliation with the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Government and Policy.

Key responsibilities include helping shape GSIDI’s long-term vision, overseeing program growth, managing operations, communicating with faculty mentors, coordinating outreach and events, maintaining mailing lists, and supporting student mentorship. The role also involves developing partnerships with universities and organizations, conducting related research or public writing, and potentially helping secure philanthropic support.
